Health 3.0: A New Podcast for Your Daily Commute

Dr Doug Headshot

Medically reviewed and edited by Dr. Doug Lucas, DO, AOBOS, ABAARM, FAAMM

Published: Feb 27, 2026 Updated: Feb 27, 2026

If you've ever left a doctor's appointment with more questions than answers, scrolled through conflicting health advice wondering who to trust, or felt like healthcare is something that happens to you instead of for you – this podcast is for you.

Health 3.0 by LifeMD is built to deliver clarity, practical guidance, and a healthcare approach that treats prevention as seriously as treatment.

Health 3.0 is hosted by Dr. Doug Lucas, a double board-certified orthopedic surgeon who has turned his focus to osteoporosis (both preventing it and reversing it) and hormone health. He also serves as the Vice President of Women’s Health, Hormone and Lifestyle Optimization at LifeMD.

Created to bring you clearer guidance and more control over your health, Health 3.0 offers education that’s easy to digest and built for real life.

“80% of chronic disease could be prevented by simple lifestyle choices.” - Dr. Doug Lucas from Health 3.0

Created for Better Health at Every Stage

Health 3.0 was designed for adults in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond — anyone who wants to feel better day to day, stay healthier as they age, and make smarter lifestyle choices. It’s for those who feel stuck in a system built for sick care, not long term health.

Health 3.0 is also for clinicians and healthcare leaders who believe prevention, education, and patient autonomy should be at the center of modern medicine. Each episode features conversations with trusted experts in the health field who:

  • Break down what prevention looks like when it comes to health.

  • Teach you how to not only live longer, but stronger.

  • Bridge the communication gap between the innovators shaping the future of healthcare and the patients in this new landscape.

  • Explore why modern healthcare focuses more on treating illness than preventing it.

Dr. Doug and his guests bring you practical ways to support your health now and in the years ahead.

Health Advice Made for Real Life

Rather than focusing on the extremes in the healthcare industry, this podcast offers a calm approach — with the understanding that treatment is not a standardized solution. The goal of Health 3.0 is simple: To bring hope and clarity to your healthcare decisions.

Optimize your health and listen to new episodes every week — wherever you get your podcasts — and start adding more life to your years.

Why This Podcast Matters

We're living in a world where health information is everywhere — social media offers endless advice, search engines and AI generate answers in seconds, and doctor visits feel rushed. Meanwhile, healthcare costs keep rising while outcomes don't reflect what we're spending. Patients feel lost.

Health 3.0 speaks directly to that reality.

Instead of choosing sides between conventional and functional medicine, pharmaceuticals and lifestyle interventions, the podcast asks a smarter question: What actually works, and how do we use it responsibly? It acknowledges that emergency medicine saves lives, while also recognizing that preventing chronic disease requires a different approach.

"The medical system isn't broken. It's just outdated."

The real risk today isn't lack of information — it's not knowing how to navigate it. Health 3.0 is here to help you think critically and understand your options — because healthspan isn't just about living longer. It's about living stronger.

What Health 3.0 Looks Like

Dr. Doug brings a unique perspective shaped by his own journey. As a second-generation surgeon with Stanford University training and years in high-volume conventional practice, he left the traditional system because it didn't match what patients actually needed. His mission now is simple: Show the world that osteoporosis and many chronic conditions are not only preventable but often reversible.

"I really believe that we are here to make memories. To do that, we need to age with strength and grace."

The Health 3.0 model is built on personalization, shared decision-making, and addressing root causes — not just masking symptoms. It runs on four foundational pillars:

  • Nutrition: Protein-forward, whole-food focused, minimize ultra-processed foods

  • Sleep: Non-negotiable for recovery, consistency, and long-term health

  • Exercise: High-intensity resistance training first, strategic cardio, built-in recovery

  • Mindset: Growth mindset, stress management, time protection, coaching support

Dr. Doug's approach is straightforward: track what matters, make informed adjustments, and see what's working. He recommends using tools like wearables, continuous glucose monitors, and body composition scales to guide decisions — but emphasizes they're meant to inform your care, not take over your life.

What You'll Learn

Bone health as a biomarker of longevity

Bone health isn't just an "elderly fragility issue". It's a signal of how well your entire system is functioning. Dr. Doug advocates for earlier screening and treating bone decline as a warning sign to look upstream at hormones, nutrition, inflammation, and stress.

Smarter hormone care

Hormones move from "replacement" to optimization. Pattern recognition and trend-based care reduce trial and error, and optimization doesn't mean automatic replacement — it means aligning hormones with performance, resilience, and long-term health.

Supplements done right

The supplement industry is largely unregulated. Dr. Doug emphasizes biomarker-driven, diet-informed supplement choices from third-party tested sources. Don't get fancy before you get foundational.

Technology that supports (not replaces) foundations

Modalities like whole body vibration, osteogenic loading, sauna, and cold plunge have some evidence — but nothing replaces sleep, adequate protein, resistance training, and optimized hormonal health.
